About Rebekah Alviani

Rebekah Alviani is an internationally exhibited, published, and award-winning lens-based artist whose work explores how people perceive the world around them, while offering diverse perspectives of the subjects she documents. Her hope is for these new perceptions to stir and evoke emotional responses while provoking more in-depth thought on the subject matter she works with, inviting viewers to engage both her work and each other.

She has been published in Photographer’s Forum Best of Photography 2015, The Remake Project published by Chronicle Books, as well as various other publications. She has most recently been accepted into juried exhibitions in Ohio, New Mexico, and the UK.

In 2012, Rebekah graduated from Oakbridge Academy of Arts earning an Associate in Specialized Technology degree with a focus in Photography. In 2013, she attended Clarion University of Pennsylvania and in May 2015, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus in Graphic Design as well as minors in Art History and Marketing.

In June 2015, Rebekah began her service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana, West Africa. Her primary assignment was to serve as an art teacher in a Ghanaian school for the Deaf. She also worked on many secondary assignments, including the presidency of a media group known as PCV Media, the co-authoring and design of a Medical Sign Language Handbook for Ghanaian hospitals and clinics, and the development and teaching of a Ghanaian Sign Language curriculum for junior high school students.

In 2021, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree with a focus in Digital Arts. Since graduating, Rebekah is working as a professional artist-educator teaching digital media, photography, and video, while continuing her visual research and art-making practice.
